It has been reported that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:$AAPL) is working around the clock to fix software bugs that are affecting its next iPhone. If the team responsible for building the device are not able to solve the issues, the iPhone could be delayed or released with key features disabled due to the software malfunctions.

According to Fast Company (NASDAQ:$FAST), which quoted a source close to the matter, one of the software issues is connected to wireless charging. Apple’s latest model of the iPhone, which is thought to cost more than $1,000, is believed to have been designed in a way that will allow users to charge batteries without having to plug in their phones. That said, we now know that the separate charging device the phone sits on is not ready, even though the wireless charging component is said to be 100% functional.

Elaborating further, Fast Company’s source says that these software malfunctions could cause Apple to ship the first phones with wireless charging hardware that doesn’t work properly. If Apple’s engineers are unable to fix the issue in time, the California-based company’s plan is to activate the feature at a later time.

Additionally, it is likely that the new iPhone’s facial recognition technology will be in the same boat. At the start of this month, rumors surfaced that Apple plans to replace fingerprint scanning with 3D facial recognition technology on its latest model. However, according to the source, Apple has yet to get these sensors to work in a reliable manner. According to Mehdi Hosseini, an analyst at Susquehanna Financial Group (NASDAQ:$SUSQ), “Adding too many features appears to be backfiring.”

Mentioned previously, if the plans to fix the issues are not resolved in time, Apple’s alternative plan is to just delay the release date for the iPhone. Generally speaking, Apple’s phones are launched in September, but many are wondering whether the latest model will be ready time.
