Trump Names Hicks as Interim Communications Director

On Wednesday, President Trump announced that Hope Hicks – the president’s longtime aide – will take on the role of interim communications director. This move gives one of the White House’s most prominent behind-the-scenes staffers more responsibility in a section of the West Wing that has seen an insane amount of instability and turnover as of late.

The White House disclosed the appointment on Wednesday, and added that a permanent communications director will be named “at the appropriate time.”

Interestingly, Hicks is the fourth person in the first seven months of the administration to handle the duties of the top communications staffer in the White House. Both Anthony Scaramucci and Mike Dubke resigned from the role due to pressure.
