CEO Jack Dorsey: The Deactivation of Trump’s Twitter Should Never Have Been Possible

Trump's Twitter

Remember when that Twitter employee went rogue and deleted President Trump’s Twitter account for 11 minutes?

Well, now Twitter Inc. (NYSE:$TWTR) CEO Jack Dorsey has said that it should never have been possible for one of his employees to deactivate the president’s account.

“We had an employee who, on this person’s last day, took it upon themselves to deactivate the account,” Dorsey said. “There are a number of things that came out of this for us. First, that should never have been possible. We started looking into the controls we have in place, what we can improve and where we have weaknesses, where we have gaps. Second, particular policies around what agents have control over and what they don’t.”

At The New York Times DealBook Conference, Dorsey was asked if the Trump administration had contacted him after the incident. His response? They have had “conversations.”

The same reporter then asked Dorsey why he did not attend any of the recent congressional hearings regarding the topic of Russian interference, sending a lawyer instead. The Twitter CEO responded that he would be happy to represent his company, but that the lawyer was the best person to deal with Twitter’s legal policies.
