Starbucks Holiday Drinks are Here! Along with Two Holiday Treats and New Festive Cups

Starbucks Holiday Drinks

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Goodbye, pumpkin spice. The holiday season is coming early to Starbucks (NASDAQ:SBUX) this year. Starting Friday, Starbucks holiday drinks will be available in stores. Initially, they will only offer their usual six but will debut a seventh later in the season.

The six Starbucks holiday beverages available tomorrow include Peppermint Mocha, Toasted White Chocolate Mocha, Chesnut Praline Lattee, Egg Nog Latte, Gingerbread Latte, and Caramel Brulee Latte. Customers can get these either hot, iced, or blended as a Frappuccino.

“We were reminded just how much our base enjoys the holidays and wants to seek out ways to participate in the season with us. It triggers positive emotions in their minds during the season, and we know we have the opportunity to invoke something special in our customers,” COO of Starbucks, Rosalind Brewer, told CNBC.

In addition to the festive beverages, Starbucks is offering holiday pastries like a sugar plum cheese danish and a chocolate swirl brioche. Brewer states that the company listened to its customers and will offer less merchandise, a reusable red cup, and an earlier release for its holiday beverages. These drinks will be out a week to ten days earlier than usual.

Holiday Rough Patch 2017

Last year, the company said that its sales had slumped by the lack of sales of the Starbucks holiday drinks and Christmas merchandise. The Seattle-based coffee company will offer fewer retail items at lower prices and hopes it will encourage more customers to shop in its cafes.

Customers that use Starbucks’ reusable red cup will get 50 cents off their drinks after 2 PM.

“We enjoy our blended business and our customers like the Frappuccino, but what they love is our coffee-forward position,” Brewer said, referring to Starbucks’ policy of keeping coffee and espresso its top products. “You will see us do more and more of that because that is who we are.”

You can expect this year that you won’t be flooded with Christmas merch when you walk into any Starbucks, which is a treat in itself! Happy Holidays!

SBUX Stock Movement

Despite the positive news about the holiday drinks, Starbucks’ stock is currently trading in the red to start the day. According to Yahoo Finance, SBUX is currently trading at $58.18 a share, down -$0.09 (-0.15%).
