Exchange traded funds (ETFs) are similar to stocks- with the difference of investors buying and selling “units” instead of “shares” Creation of new units entail that the participating holdings of the ETF need to be purchased, while the destruction of units means selling participating holdings. Therefore, large flows can impact the individual components held within ETFs.
