Not lasting even 10 days in his position, Anthony Scaramucci has been removed as Trump’s Chief of Media. Taking the position last Friday, Scaramucci has faced criticism after trying to get a reporter to slander his colleagues. Over the appointment of Scaramucci, both Reince Priebus and Sean Spicer, chief of staff and spokesman respectively, left their positions.
With John Kelly taking over as chief of staff on Monday, it was his decision that ultimately pushed Anthony Scaramucci back out of the White House. As noted in a three-sentence statement released by the White House: “Anthony Scaramucci will be leaving his role as White House Communications Director. Mr Scaramucci felt it was best to give Chief of Staff John Kelly a clean slate and the ability to build his own team. We wish him all the best.”
When Trump tweeted about job and wage figures earlier in the day, the President assured that there was “No WH chaos”, addressing rumors of quarreling amongst staff in the White House. Additionally, Mr. Scaramucci was very proud, and often boasted about his relationship with President Trump and how he reported directly to him rather than his chief of staff.
Formerly serving as Secretary of Homeland Security, John Kelly was sworn into the chief of staff position at the White House on Monday morning. There were also rumors that Reince Priebus left due to Mr. Scaramucci’s antics, as Priebus resigned after Scaramucci posted a now deleted tweet that many interpreted as an accusation and threat
Additionally, Scaramucci also tried to get a reporter to slander Mr. Priebus by depicting him as a “paranoid schizophrenic”, as well as accusing him of leaking information to the media. A recorded call further shows Scaramucci’s aggressiveness, as he was heard making brash statements about chief strategist Steve Bannon.
