Almost no one talks about capital companies when it comes to trading. There are many reasons for that, but we won’t get into them today. Instead, we’re going to try and figure out whether or not this one stock is potentially in the crosshairs of Reddit’s meme community. The price of Horizon Technology Finance Corp. (NASDAQ:HRZ) went up 33% in 6 months. At first this looked like a meme stock. It quickly became apparent this was not the case, as a simple search of WallStreetBets ends up with no mention of this fintech company.

Horizon Technology Finance Corporation (NASDAQ:HRZN) lends capital to life sciences and technology companies. Since 2004, the company invested over US$2 Billion in venture loans to over 250 companies.

This little-known capital firm is responsible for some exciting investments, and another company that Horizon (NASDAQ:HRZN) invested in was SkillShare, one of the most popular online learning platforms in the world.

With the world of decentralized finance booming, numerous developing nations looking to crypto and making Bitcoin legal tender, and a boom in telehealth and bioscience as result of the pandemic, we are seeing capital ventures into tech expanding. According to Forbes, if a company is not raising their first round of funding, and are not in a sector directly impacted by CV19, then it will likely be a good year.

Companies like Horizon (NASDAQ:HRZN) might just be a reason for this sentiment. For now, we shall wait and see.
