Personal Lawyer of Trump Admits to Composing President’s Tweet About Firing Michael Flynn

President

On Sunday, John Dowd, the personal lawyer of President Donald Trump, announced that he was the person who wrote Trump’s tweet about the firing of Michael Flynn, former national security adviser.

For those who missed it, Trump tweeted Saturday:

“I had to fire General Flynn because he lied to the Vice President and the FBI. He has pled guilty to those lies. It is a shame because his actions during the transition were lawful. There was nothing to hide!”

According to Dowd, he was the person that drafted the tweet and he strongly believes Dan Scavino, White House social media director, was the individual that posted it online. However, when asked about whether or not the president looked at the tweet before it was posted, Dowd declined to answer.

“Enough already,” he told CNN in an email. “I don’t feed the haters.”

Sunday’s declaration shouldn’t come as a total surprise considering the Washington Post reported on Saturday that Dowd was the individual who drafted the president’s tweet, referencing two separate people familiar with the message. Additionally, Chuck Todd announced on Sunday that Dowd had confirmed that he was the author of the tweet.
