Semiconductor producer and telecommunications company Qualcomm (NASDAQ:$QCOM) has just announced that it has sued tech giant Apple (NASDAQ:$AAPL). Complaints were filed to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California as well as the United States International Trade Commission as Qualcomm looks to put a ban on iPhone imports.

The claims follow Apple’s $1 billion lawsuit against Qualcomm in January 2017, arguing that the company was overpricing its chips. Now, Qualcomm is arguing that Apple has infringed upon six of its patents that were developed to help improve the battery life of iPhones. In a statement, executive Don Rosenberg claimed that Apple has continuously taken advantage of Qualcomm by using the company’s tech but refusing to pay the price for it.

Qualcomm wants investigations done to determine whether or not iPhones were being implemented with processors that were produced by Qualcomm’s competitors. The company wants to stop the sale of these iPhones as it violates its patents.

Shareholders of both Qualcomm and Apple should be wary as tensions between the two companies continue to rise.
