Former CIA agent Valerie Plame Wilson, whose involvement with the CIA was leaked during the political scandal dubbed the “Plame Affair”, has recently begun a GoFundMe page in an effort to acquire or – at the very least – become a majority shareholder of Twitter (NYSE:$TWTR). The campaign was done with the goal to oust President Donald Trump from Twitter. Wilson had launched the fundraiser by tweeting, “If @Twitter executives won’t shut down Trump’s violence and hate, then it’s up to us. #BuyTwitter #BanTrump” along with a link to the campaign’s GoFundMe page. As of Wednesday, August 23rd, Wilson has around $21,000 raised of her $1 billion goal.

It’s not very clear if Wilson had started the campaign to criticize Twitter’s inability to ban Trump or if she is really trying to acquire the social media company in order to get rid of Trump’s twitter account. Obviously it would take a lot more than $1 billion to purchase the social media giant whose market capitalization is currently at $12 billion, but Wilson said that if she were able to own a significant part of Twitter with the $1 billion, it could put significant pressure on the company.

“If we can’t get majority interest, we’ll explore options for buying a significant stake in the company and champion this proposal at the annual shareholder meeting,” Wilson explains on the GoFundMe campaign page. “If that’s impossible for any reason or if there is a surplus from this campaign, 100% of the balance of proceeds will be donated to Global Zero, a nonprofit organization leading the resistance to nuclear war.”

Wilson isn’t the first to disapprove and/or complain of Trump’s twitter account, and she’s probably not the first to try and get him banned, either. However, Twitter’s CEO Jack Dorsey said that Trump’s tweets have not broken any of the platform’s guidelines – including ones in which the U.S. president insinuated violence towards the journalists he’d disagreed with.

For Wilson, Trump’s tweets regarding North Korea’s threats to drop a nuclear bomb on Guam – including one that states, “Military solutions are now fully in place, locked and loaded, should North Korea act unwisely. Hopefully Kim Jong Un will find another path!” – was the final straw. Wilson believes that Trump’s provocative tweets will take the potential nuclear war with North Korea to a much more dangerous and threatening level.

In a statement sent via email on Wednesday, August 23rd, Trump’s administration responded to Wilson’s protests. White House spokesperson Sarah Huckabee Sanders argued that the lack of funding to Wilson’s campaign was because the majority of American citizens did not disagree with Trump’s twitter.
