Trump Administration Has Banned Certain Agencies From Using Words Like “Transgender” and “Diversity”

Over the weekend, the Trump administration announced some news that caused a tremendous amount of backlash – and for good reasons too. With this latest move in the Trump administration, it seems the United States is moving backward instead of forwards in terms of human and cultural development.

On Saturday, the Washington Post reported that the Trump administration had informed various agencies within the Department of Health and Human Services that they should start to stray away from using certain words in documents that are currently being drafted for 2018’s budget.

According to the Washington Post, the United States Center for Disease Control and Prevention was given a list of words and phrases that they should now start to avoid. Surprisingly, these words included: “diversity,” “vulnerable,” “evidence-based,” “fetus,” “science-based,” and “transgender.”

Further, the Post reported that officials at another agency were informed to use the term “Obamacare” rather than Affordable Care Act when referring to former president Barack Obama’s healthcare law that he put into action almost 8 years ago.

This news is heartbreaking as activists have spent hundreds of years trying to diversify the nation, and fight for the rights of transgender people and those who support planned parenthood. We can only hope that the administration will one day come to their senses.
