For months, there have been allegations of Russia meddling in the elections that resulted in Donald Trump’s presidency. As time passes, more evidence alluding to the corruption has surfaced. This leads us to question whether or not Vladimir Putin and the Russian government had any affiliation to the attack on the U.S. elections.

Evidence that has been released up until today proves there was Russian intervention that served to place Donald Trump in power through the communication of information during the espionage operation, and attacks by Russian officials. However, Trump’s campaign was cooperative with Russian authorities, and even seemed eager, which suggests dishonesty behind claims that there was no intervention. However, whether or not this could mean the impeachment of the president, only time will tell.

But it seems that Trump struggles to understand the full scale of the situation, and often raises concerns that were answered months ago. Undermining his own intelligence agencies, the President insists that “nobody really knows” who was behind the attack.

Radical TV preacher Pat Robertson sat down with president Trump this week. In their conversation, not only did Trump argue against Putin’s support for his administration, the President also directed attention to Hillary Clinton, his opposition during the elections.

“We are the most powerful country in the world and we are getting more and more powerful because I’m a big military person. As an example, if Hillary had won, our military would be decimated. Our energy would be much more expensive. That’s what Putin doesn’t like about me. And that’s why I say, why would he want me? Because from day one I wanted a strong military, he doesn’t want to see that,” Trump told Robertson. “So what I keep hearing about, that [Putin] would have rather had Trump, I think probably not.”

In essence, Trump claims that Putin actually supported Clinton rather than himself, as his administration vouched for things Russia was firmly against, such as a stronger military, and the exportation of U.S. energy.

However, it is clear from all the evidence presented that these claims are outlandish, even when it comes to Trump.

Putting aside evidence against his own administration, Trump has made curt assumptions about Clinton and her administration. For example, there’s no reason to believe that the military would be “decimated” under Clinton’s administration, nor is there any guarantee of a raise in energy prices. Rather than highlighting the faults of Clinton’s administration, however, Trump’s words exposed more about his own negligence.

Through intelligence reports, which Trump was certain to have reviewed, Clinton was believed to have intentions of tightening economic sanctions between the U.S and Russia. This was most likely the core driver behind the Russian President’s stance against the Clinton administration.

In their conversation, Trump continued to ask Robertson, “Why would he want me?”

The answer could lie in the Trump administration’s agenda. That is: To weaken the sanctions that Clinton was hoping to strengthen, diplomatically isolate the United States, hinder Western alliances, and diminish the influence of the State Department.

All of these are strategically advantageous to Russia’s goals, and the election of Trump could also mean the dismissal of any evidence that point towards Russian interference in the U.S. elections.

As mentioned earlier, however, Trump was aware of the evidence against his administration, leaving room for a few possibilities: Perhaps Trump understands all of this, and simply doesn’t want to jeopardize his presidency, or he could genuinely be oblivious to the situation. Whatever the case, let’s hope there’s no detrimental alternative agenda.

Regardless, to claim that the Russian Aristocrat favored Clinton is completely unreasonable. If any further doubts may exist, emails released by Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr. on Twitter, show the explicit support, by Russian authorities and their willingness to aid. Not only did Russian authorities extend an olive branch by offering intel against Clinton, but Trump Jr., son-in-law Jared Kushner, and previous campaign Chairman Paul Manafort, fully accepted it without question.
