10 Things to Know About Tesla’s Model 3 Vehicle Before They Start Making Deliveries Tonight

Tesla's Model 3

After months of waiting, the day has finally come. Tesla (NASDAQ:$TSLA) will make the first deliveries of the Model 3, it’s first mass-market vehicle, on Friday night.

This will be Tesla’s first sedan intended for a general consumer audience. Tesla’s Model 3 is priced at $35,000, and it will be sold through most of 2018 after securing more than 350,000 preorders for the vehicle in April of 2016. On July 28, at 8:45 p.m. PT, Tesla will livestream the official launch of the Model 3 vehicle on its website.

The Model 3 deliveries will commence at Friday’s party as it slowly increases production to 20,000 a month in December.

Despite being called the company’s most important car yet, investors still have a few unanswered question about the vehicle.

It’s an exciting day for those who have followed the vehicle’s journey as Tesla has yet to provide a real glimpse of the Model 3’s interior or finalize specs for the car.

Before the official launch, here are 10 things you need to know about Tesla’s Model 3 vehicle.

  1. Tesla will offer roughly 4 color options for the vehicle: metallic gray, silver, red, and black

  1. The starting price for the Model 3 is $35,000 before tax incentives. However, if you want the full experience, the final price is likely to go above $40,000.

Keep in mind that it is still unclear as to whether customers who purchase the Model 3 will be allowed to claim the full $7,500 federal tax incentive. This credit applies only to the first 200,000 cars a manufacturer sells domestically.

On their website, Tesla doesn’t make any promises or guarantees about the federal tax incentive.

  1. According to Tesla, the car will be able to drive roughly 215 miles on a single charge. That’s good for a $35,000 car, to say the least.

  1. In under six seconds, the Model 3 can accelerate to 60 mph.

  1. Tesla might reveal more powerful versions of the vehicle at the event.

According to CEO Elon Musk, Tesla has plans to reveal different Model 3 trims in the future with longer ranges and faster acceleration.

  1. The vehicle is equipped with a new suite of sensors that provide support to the full autonomy.

The Model 3 comes equipped with the following: eight cameras, one radar sensor, 12 ultrasonic sensors, and a new Nvidia Drive PX2 supercomputer to support Tesla’s Enhanced Autopilot system.
