Speculations run wild preceding the Google (NASDAQ:$GOOGL) event today in San Francisco. While no one but Google knows for sure what products they will be announcing, a batch of leaks and accidental product listings have given a hint at what we can expect. So let’s round up what we know so far.
The Google Pixel 2
It is expected that Google will announce both the Pixel 2 and the Pixel 2 XL products today. Reportedly, the Pixel 2 will carry on its predecessors legacy with a similar size and will come in white, black, and grey-blue. According to a report from Droid Life, the 64GB model will cost $649 and the 128GB model will retail for $749.
Android Authority earlier leaked a few details of the new phone. In the leak, mentioned features included; dual speakers, an ‘active edge’ allowing users to activate apps by squeezing the phone, water resistance equal to the iPhone 8, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, and a full high-definition 1080p display.
Much to the chagrin of some users, however, the phone will follow the iPhone’s example and will not feature a standard headphone jack.
The Pixel 2 XL, however, will be noticeably different from its pint-sized sibling. It will have a 5.99-inch display that boasts a 1440p – or 2K – resolution. Unlike the Pixel 2, the XL’s screen will take up the entire front of the phone, with slimmer bezels around the display, and rounded screen corners. Other than the display, the Pixel 2 XL will feature similar stats as its sibling phone.
Despite early reports indicating that the XL would be available in only all black and a combination of black and white, a Walmart listing leak indicated that the phone might also be available in all white.
Google Home Mini
After last years reveal of the Google Home, a competitor to Amazon’s Echo smart speaker device, it is expected that Google will unveil a new, smaller, more affordable model called the Google Home Mini. According to an earlier Droid Life report, the speaker will be available in pink, silver, and dark gray.
On Tuesday, Walmart (NYSE:$WMT) accidentally listed preorders for the smart speaker, simultaneously revealing a price of $49, size about equal to a hockey puck, and a shipping date of October 19.
Pixelbook
Early reports are indicating that Google also plans to reveal a companion to its Pixel phones and smart speaker in the form of the convertible laptop known as the Pixelbook.
According to another report by Droid Life, the laptop will only be available in grey, will offer sizes of 128 GB, 256 GB, and 512 GB, with prices in the range of $1,199 for the 128GB model and $1,749 for the 512GB model. Droid Life also reported that a stylus device would be offered. It will be called the Pixelbook Pen and will cost around $99.
9to5Google also reported that the Pixelbook will have a display of 12.3 inches.
