Apple Releases Firmware Update for Wi-Fi Base Stations

Firmware Update

Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) has released a new firmware update for the Wi-Fi base stations AirPort Express, AirPort Extreme, and AirPort Time Capsule. 802.11ac base stations will have the 7.7.9 version, and 802.11n base stations have the 7.6.9 update.

Although Apple has not confirmed what is to be included in the updates, they most likely fix the KRACK Wi-Fi vulnerabilities inflicting a large majority of Wi-Fi networks and devices.

The KRACK vulnerability could have allowed attackers to locate credit card numbers, usernames, passwords, and photos.

The AirPort Utility app for iOS or macOS will be used to install the updates.
