Twitter Update – World Cup Page, News Notifications, and More!

Twitter Update

Twitter Updated – It’s not a secret that Twitter has faced some scrutiny over the past year or so. However, the company is actively trying to fix its problems and create new features that will help the platform succeed and stay up to date. On Wednesday, Twitter announced that numerous changes are coming to its platform. Essentially, these changes will allow for news events to be better followed, including the 2018 World Cup.

Twitter Updated | The New Features

The company itself is very optimistic about these things. One employee said Twitter has been working on these features for a while, while CEO Jack Dorsey said the update “really gets closer to what Twitter wants to be.”

So, we keep mention the new features, but what actually are they? Here are 4!

  1. World Cup Page

As we know, the World Cup starts tomorrow. Therefore, Twitter decided to jump on this year’s event, creating a page dedicated entirely to the World Cup. On the page, there will be recaps, current scores, and the latest World Cup news.

  1. Moments

This next feature is for the United States only. Who knows, though, Twitter could roll it out worldwide if it receives support. Now there will be different timelines to swipe through in Moments. For instance, tweets an individual may have missed.

  1. Breaking News

This is going to be helpful for people interested in current affairs. With the new update, an individual’s timeline will be filled with breaking news and “personalized news.” These pieces of news will pop up randomly.

  1. Notifications

The update will include users getting notifications for “personalized news.” Don’t worry, though, you will have the option of turning these notifications off.

Are People Excited?

It seems people are looking forward to the update. In fact, the Twitter stock ended the day in the green zone. If the update was a fail, it’s likely the stock would have started sporting a red look.

According to Google Finance, at 4:52 p.m., Twitter (NYSE:TWTR) was trading at $44.07, putting it up 1.33% at the time. Twitter is reportedly trading up in after-hours trade.
