Amazon Puts Chromecast Devices Back on Sale After Google Removes YouTube from Amazon Devices

Google Removes YouTube from Amazon Devices

Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) is going to once again start selling Apple TV and Google Chromecast devices.

In 2015, Amazon removed its competitors’ streaming devices from its online store, so as to “avoid customer confusion,” but it looks like Amazon is finally going to return them. Coincidentally, the decision looked to be made after Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) added Amazon’s Prime Video to the Apple TV.

Amazon has added product pages for both the Apple and Google (NASDAQ:GOOGL) devices. While they haven’t been put up for sale yet, they likely will be soon.

The companies have long been fighting for market share – just last week Google took YouTube off of Amazon devices after tensions between the companies reached their limits. Google called it a “lack of reciprocity” from Amazon (in regards to it taking Chromecast devices off its online store) that led to this decision. The removal of YouTube, no doubt, was also a pretty strong deciding factor leading towards Amazon initiated the replacement of Chromecast devices on its site.

Google says that it is now “in productive discussions with Amazon to reach an agreement for the benefit of our mutual customers.”

Hopefully, these discussions will mean that no more customers will have to suffer from the company tiffs.
