Interested in the latest computer hardware technology? If so, you might want to pay close attention to the following: On Tuesday, September 19, Apple (NASDAQ:$AAPL) will release its latest mobile operating system – iOS 11 – for iPhone and iPad.

Apple’s iOS 11 software was first introduced by Apple CEO Tim Cook back in June, and it will be available for download as soon as the update goes live. One can find the update by going to Settings > General > Software Updates.

The software update is significant news as there are numerous new features available in iOS 11, and the majority of them will be noticed instantly.

“iOS 11 brings augmented reality to hundreds of millions of iOS devices and new professional capabilities improve images in Photos and Camera,” the California-based company wrote in a post on its website. “Siri is more natural and useful and a redesigned App Store makes it easier to discover apps and games.”

Here are 10 changes Apple users will notice in iOS 11:

  • The control center has been redesigned, and it can now be customized, so that users have the ability to see their most used settings when they swipe up.
  • Siri will sound more realistic. To top it off, Siri will now be capable of translating the following languages: Spanish, French, Italian, Chinese, and German.
  • Apple has added several new photo filters.
  • The App Store has been completely redesigned to make it easier and more enjoyable to browse through.
  • There will be a file system – finally – for the iPhone and the iPad. It is called Files.
  • Apple Music will have more of a social network feel. There will be user profiles and the option to share and collaborate on playlists.
  • For those driving, there is a new “Do Not Disturb” feature that automatically turns on when you are in the car.
  • Apple added a “Storage Optimization” feature which will help users clear up space on their devices.
  • If you hold your iPhone next to another iOS device, you will be able to get the wifi password.
  • Apple Maps will have an indoor mapping feature for a range of places, including Heathrow Airport and shopping centres.

Keep in mind iOS 11 will come pre-installed on the new iPhone’s (8, 8 Plus, and X), but it will have to be downloaded onto earlier devices.

While some iPhone and iPad users in the United Kingdom struggled to download the update Tuesday morning, an Apple spokesperson told Business Insider: “It is due to be released today – as ever we don’t announce a time.”
