Fox Sports Set To Lay Off Employees With NFL Downfall

Fox Sports (private) budget cuts are lingering as they have lost millions of dollars in lost advertising revenue from the NFL within the last two season. Fox Sports’ Los Angeles employees are currently preparing and dreading the upcoming budget cuts and potential layoffs that await them.

With NBC winning the bid and now airing the Super Bowl, it is reported that Fox will not be sending its top named staffers to broadcast from Minnesota from Super Bowl 52. Fox instead intends on saving the cash by keeping their crew home.

With its ad revue falling due to fans becoming increasingly disinterested in the organization due to boycotts and politics, Fox Sports will be halting and slashing its spending targets.

Sporting news just recently reported:

“Through Week 13, the ‘NFL on Fox’s’ average TV audience fell 12 percent to 17.4 million viewers from the same period in 2016. The TV audience for the network’s ‘America’s Game of the Week’ between the Saints and Panthers on Dec. 3 plummeted 20 percent to 20.2 million viewers. To illustrate the strength of NFL programming, however, the telecast still ranked as the most-watched program of the week on TV, according to the network.”

Another thing that also hurt Fox Sports is that Team U.S.A will not be in the FIFA World Cup. Fox had spent a large amount of money to get the broadcast for the World Cup but team U.S.A has been eliminated and will not be in soccerès biggest tournament.

Fox sports is not the only one in a pinch, ESPN (private) just laid off an additional 150 employees only a few months after firing 100. That brings its employee layoffs of the company since 2015, to over 550 people. ESPN also has reported that it had lost 480,000 more subscribers in just October alone.
