Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX) may have finally found its ‘in’ to the Chinese video streaming market. The streaming company has reached a deal with Youku, owned by the China internet giant Alibaba (NYSE:BABA), to distribute the extremely popular detective drama series “Day and Night”.
Netflix has secured the exclusive distribution rights from Youku for the 32-episode, critically acclaimed thriller series. They will be distributing the episodes to over 109 million subscribers in 190 countries.
This will be the first distribution partnership between the two companies, and “Day and Night” will be Youku’s first China internet series to be distributed overseas through an official channel.
