Delta Air Lines Debuts New Innovative Boarding Process for 2019

Delta Air Lines

Delta Air Lines, Inc. (NYSE:DAL) is attempting to make its boarding process easier. Will the company succeed? We shall soon find out! These boarding changes are set to take place in late-January.

Delta Air Lines New Boarding Process

This morning, Delta announced it would ditch its old zone boarding process. The global airline will debut a new branded fare system that will be color coded. This new protocol will begin on January 23rd. Each one of Delta’s five-star products will have its own color and boarding passes will be color coded as such.

Delta has increased the number of boarding groups. By doing this, the airline hopes to stop the flood of passengers that crowd the boarding area before their ‘zone’ or group is called. With these efforts, Delta Air Lines hopes to make the boarding process faster and more smooth for everyone.

“Every customer values consistency and a sense of knowing what to expect when they’re traveling,” said Tim Mapes, Delta’s Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer. “We have been listening to our customers about the stress they often feel at the gate before boarding, and implementing small changes for years. This latest enhancement further refines how Delta’s process works and is designed to better link the Delta product they purchased to differentiated experiences throughout their journey.”

Delta Air Lines will display these new colors on the boarding screens and signs at the gate. A gradual rollout will take place on delta.com and the Fly Delta app.

Delta isn’t the first airline to implement changes to the boarding process. Both United Airlines and American Airlines (NASDAQ:AAL) have revamped their boarding process this year to combat the hovering of passengers near the gate during boarding time.
