Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg to Take Paternity Leave

On Friday, Facebook (NASDAQ:$FB) CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced in an online post that he will be taking two months’ paternity leave later this year.

This shouldn’t come as a surprise as the billionaire internet tycoon announced in March that the couple was expecting their second child. Plus, why shouldn’t he take time off? Facebook has the fantastic option of taking leaves in parts, and Mark Zuckerberg plans on taking advantage of that. In fact, the CEO could have taken up to four months off if he wanted too.

“I’ll take a month off to be with Priscilla (Chan) and the girls at the beginning, and then we’ll spend the whole month of December together as well,” Zuckerberg wrote in a Facebook post. He added, “Studies show that when working parents take time to be with their newborns, it’s good for the entire family.”

CFO David Wehner and COO Sheryl Sandberg will be the highest-ranking executives in Zuckerberg’s absence.

In 2017, shares of Facebook are up more than 40%.
