Facebook and PayPal Expand Partnership By Introducing New Invoicing Extension

PayPal

After the 2016 presidential election, Facebook, Inc. (NASDAQ:$FB) has been at the center of the U.S. political drama. At least, however, the Menlo Park, California-based company is keeping up their friendly relationship with PayPal Holdings (NASDAQ:$PYPL).

On Tuesday, both companies disclosed that users are now eligible to send invoices over Facebook Messenger. This is a clear expansion of a partnership announced in October, which stated that Messenger users would be able to connect their PayPal accounts to the platform in order to send and receive money.

How Does It Work?

Users will be able to create an invoice within the Messenger platform and then send it to the buyer’s address. Right now, this new invoicing extension is available only in the United States, which makes sense considering PayPal Holdings has more than 2.5 million accounts already connected to Facebook.

By entering into a partnership, Facebook Messenger has the potential to become a key rival in the mobile payment services sector.
