Jeff Sessions “Recalls” Proposed Trump-Putin Meeting After Reading Reports It

Jeff Sessions

Jeff Sessions said on Tuesday that he only remembered a meeting with Trump campaign advisers, during which the idea of a face-to-face Trump-Putin meeting was thrown into the conversation after he read reports about the meeting.

“I had no recollection of this until I saw these news reports,” Sessions told the House Judiciary Committee on Tuesday. The Attorney General also told the committee that the Trump campaign was far too chaotic for him to remember every detail of what happened.

Even though Papadopoulos and Page have both come forward and discussed their contacts with Russian officials, Jeff Sessions told a Senate committee in October that he was “not aware” that anyone had been in communication with Russian officials.

Take a look at Jeff Sessions prepared testimony:

“I do now recall the March 2016 meeting at Trump Hotel that Mr. Papadopoulos attended, but I have no clear recollection of the details of what he said during that meeting. After reading his account, and to the best of my recollection, I believe that I wanted to make clear to him that he was not authorized to represent the campaign with the Russian government, or any other foreign government, for that matter. But I did not recall this event, which occurred 18 months before my testimony of a few weeks ago, and would gladly have reported it.”

What do you think? Do you believe that he only just remembered the proposed meeting?
