Netflix Terminates All Ties With Kevin Spacey

Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:$NFLX) has announced that it will cease working with Kevin Spacey on its immensely popular show “House of Cards”. Not only that, Netflix also disclosed that it will not be releasing a film starring Spacey, who has been accused of inappropriate sexual behavior.

Last weekend, Spacey apologized to actor Anthony Rapp, who had accused him of sexually harassing him in 1986 when Rapp was just 14 years old. Though Spacey appeared to be sincere in his apology, the actor was criticized for also announcing that he was gay in the statement posted on Twitter.

Production of “House of Cards” had already been suspended on Tuesday, but now there have been roughly eight current or former “House of Cards” workers who have come forward claiming Kevin Spacey made the production a “toxic” workplace. Further, one ex-employee alleges the actor sexually assaulted him.

Amongst the latest allegations, Netflix released the following statement:

“We will not be involved with any further production of House of Cards that includes Kevin Spacey. We will continue to work with MRC (production company Media Rights Capital) during this hiatus time to evaluate our path forward as it relates to the show.”

The streaming network also added: “We have also decided we will not be moving forward with the release of the film Gore, which was in post-production, starring and produced by Kevin Spacey.”
