NVIDIA Debuts Eighth-Generation Turing GPU that Accelerates AI

NVIDIA RTX GPU

At the SIGGRAPH conference two days ago, NVIDIA’s CEO, Jen Hsun, debuted his company’s new eighth-generation Turing GPU hardware, the NVIDIA RTX GPU.

Earlier this year, NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) announced a new set of ‘RTX’ features that would include support for advanced ray tracing. These new features would upgrade graphic techniques that simulate how light works. Advanced ray tracing would jump-start a new generation of hyper-realistic graphics, but the only problem was there was no hardware to support it—until now.

NVIDIA’s new hardware would revolutionize the way 50 million artists and designers work, by enabling them to render photo-realistic scenes in real time. It also would allow the artist to take advantage of its new AI-based capabilities to help manage their workflow and enjoy fluid interactivity with scenes and complex models.

NVIDIA RTX GPU: Quadro RTX & Infinity

The Quadro RTX GPUs can even be used in film and video content creation, scientific visualization, and automotive and architectural design.

“Quadro RTX marks the launch of a new era for the global computer graphics industry,” said Bob Pette, Vice President of Professional Visualization at NVIDIA. “Users can now enjoy powerful capabilities that weren’t expected to be available for at least five more years. Designers and artists can interact in real time with their complex designs and visual effects in ray-traced photo-realistic detail. And film studios and production houses can now realize increased throughput with their rendering workloads, leading to significant time and cost savings.”

On top of the GPUs, NVIDIA is also debuting its Quadro RTX server that combines the GPUs with the new Quadro Infinity software. The new software will be made available to the public at the beginning of 2019. Quadro Infinity will allow multiple users to access a single GPU through virtual workstations.

The new Quadro RTX Server is easy to deploy and can scale from small installations to the largest data centers, at a quarter of the cost.

NVIDIA Stock Movement
