On August 3, just one day after the company posted Q2 financial and operating results, Parsley Energy, Inc. (NYSE:$PE) announced that Karen Hughes has been appointed to the company’s Board of Directors, effective August 1.

For those who don’t know, Parsley Energy is an independent natural gas and oil company. Headquartered in Texas, Parsley Energy primarily focuses on the acquisition and development of atypical natural gas and oil reserves in the Permian Basin.

Adding Ms. Hughes to the Board of Directors should help to benefit Parsley Energy as she has more than 35 years of public policy, communications, and political experience. Further, she is the Worldwide Vice Chair of Burson-Marsteller, a top global public relations and communications firm.

“We are excited for Karen Hughes to join Parsley’s Board and look forward to her contributions,” said CEO Bryan Sheffield. He added that “the company and our stockholders will benefit greatly from her unique perspective, experience, and counsel.”
