TASS Reports that Facebook Will Meet With Russian Regulators to Talk About Compliance

Russian Regulators

On Tuesday, TASS news agency quoted the head of Russia’s communications watchdog Roskomnadzor as saying that Facebook (NASDAQ:$FB) plans to meet with Russian regulators next month or in early January to talk about compliance.

“We will discuss with them all the issues, including localization of databases and prompt removal of prohibited content,” TASS cited Alexander Zharov as saying.

Back in September, Zharov announced that Russia would be blocking access to Facebook in 2018 unless the social network giant adheres to a law which requires websites that store the personal data of Russian citizens to do so on Russian servers.

In November of last year, Roskomnadzor sealed off access to LinkedIn in an attempt to comply with a court ruling that suggested that the social networking site was guilty of violating the same data storage law.
