For those who missed it, on August 16, Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:$MSFT) delayed the release of its highly anticipated Crackdown 3 Xbox game to Spring of 2018. Phil Spencer, Head of Xbox, announced on Twitter that the game would be moved from its original November 7 release date.
Many had believed that Crackdown 3 was going to be a huge seller for the upcoming holiday season. And now, due to the delay, Microsoft will be releasing one Xbox-exclusive game, Forza 7, as well as its upcoming 4K-capable Xbox One X console.
Microsoft Studios publishing GM Shannon Loftis took to Twitter to say that the game is “super ambitious,” and the company just wanted to be “sure the game delivers.” Therefore, gamers can’t be too mad at the application software company for delaying the release of Crackdown 3, as it could mean the game itself will be better when it does get released.
On Thursday, August 17, in midday trade, MSFT stock traded down 0.65% to $73.17.
