Are you interested in application software? If so, you might find today’s news interesting. On Thursday, Microsoft (NASDAQ:$MSFT) and HashiCorp disclosed that the two organizations will be working together to integrate Terraform infrastructure management software with the Azure cloud platform.
It’s obvious Microsoft agreed to such a partnership because it could help with the adoption of its cloud platform, especially by organizations that are the bread and butter of Microsoft’s customer base. For those who don’t know, Terraform allows developers to provision compute infrastructure using code across on-premises and cloud environments. All in all, the Terraform system can help businesses simplify what tends to be a complicated task.
“What we’re embarking on here is really a multi-year commitment to building out full resource coverage for Azure so our joint customers can confidently use Terraform to interface with Azure in the way that they do with, perhaps, their on-premise infrastructure today,” Dave McJannet, HashiCorp CEO, said in an interview.
Keep in mind Microsoft won’t be the only company benefiting from this partnership. HashiCorp, which builds their business on providing enterprises with cloud management tools, should acquire more business through working alongside of Microsoft.
While it’s true that Terraform already supports Azure, the partnership announced today is meant to help implement brand new Azure features into the system at a faster pace than in the past.
