From the TV screen to the mobile phone screen, Snoopy’s latest adventure is a puzzle game called Snoopy Pop, which is available worldwide today for Android and iOS 11. The game focuses on Snoopy who is trying to save Woodstock and his friends from the bubbles they’re encased in. The game itself is free but has in-app purchases. Generally speaking, in-app purchases tend to be slammed by the public, however, this time it’s for a good cause.
Jam City, the publisher of the game, announced today that it will donate up to $100,000 from money made in-app purchases to Canine Companions for Independence, a nationwide nonprofit organization that provides assistance dogs to children, adults, and veterans with disabilities. One of the fantastic things about the nonprofit organization is that Canine Companions will train the dogs and then provide them to recipients at no cost. Jean Schulz, board member and chair emeritus of Canine Companions for Independence and widow of Charles M. Schulz, creator of Snoopy, stated, “Supporting Canine Companions for Independence has a special place in my heart, and this Snoopy Pop collaboration is a fun way to do just that.”
So how do the in-app purchases work? Players are able to spend real money on an in-game currency called Coins, and they can then use it to buy items like boosters – which are other Peanut characters – as well as extra lives.
