Amazon Updates Alexa and Adds Music Alarms

Amazon Updates Alexa

Do you struggle to wake up in the morning? Or do you find yourself lacking the motivation to actually throw the covers off and get moving? Well, Amazon’s Alexa might have just solved that problem.

On Monday, Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) announced a pretty significant update to Alexa: it will now allow an individual to request music as their alarm. Is there a better way to wake up in the morning? We don’t think so.

Here’s the gist of the update:

Rather than asking Alexa to set an alarm for you in the morning, you will now be able to ask her to play certain songs, artists, playlists, or genres to help wake you up in the morning. How will it work? Just like a regular playback, all an individual has to say is “Alexa, wake me up at 8 AM to 70’s music” or “Alexa, wake me up to Selena Gomez at 6 AM”.

According to the Seattle-based company, the update will support a number of services, such as Spotify, SiriusXM (NASDAQ:SIRI), and of course, Amazon Music. The new feature rolled out today and should be available on any Alexa device or on Amazon Echos.

What do you think of the new update? Will it make a difference in your morning routine?
