Facebook’s Instagram Has Updated its Platform API

Platform API

To support the needs of businesses and to help them manage their online presence, businesses on Instagram (NASDAQ:$FB) are now able to tap into the metrics and insights currently available via the app through the Instagram Platform API (application-programming interface). This was made possible after an update commenced today under which the Instagram Platform API is now built on the same stack as Facebook’s Graph API.

According to the Facebook-owned company, the enhanced insights and metrics on the Instagram Platform API will allow businesses to stay on top of the performance of their organic content more effectively than they could through third-party tools.

Keep in mind that in order to access the new features, businesses are required to have business profiles. Additionally, Instagram added that the use of third-party tools will still be allowed, but a Facebook Login has to be used. Also, the company added new comment-moderation features to its Platform API, including the ability to hide comments or turn them on and off.

As of right now, the updated Instagram Platform API is available to all Facebook Marketing Partners and Instagram Marketing Partners. According to the blog post, public availability to all developers will arrive “in the coming weeks.”
