Google Cloud – a service offered by Google (NASDAQ:$GOOGL) – announced on Tuesday that it has acquired Bitium, which is a company that focuses primarily on offering enterprise-grade identity management and access to tools, like single-sign-on, for cloud-based applications.
The purpose? To help Google Cloud better manage enterprise cloud customer implementation across an organization, such as doing tasks like setting security levels and access politics for applications working on their Cloud and G Suite offerings.
For those who don’t know, Bitium was founded in 2012, and it targets both mid-market and larger enterprise customers. The Santa Monica, California-based developer has been offering a single-stop solution for managing Office 365, Google Apps, social network, and marketing tools while making sure that organizations remain loyal to security standards.
Bitium strives to simplify the process of administering and using key cloud-based applications so users are not tempted to fall back to their own personal accounts across these services.
While information on the acquisition is limited at the moment, it appears that Google wants to continue the work that Bitium was doing independently.
