It’s fair to say that computer vision is at the center of how the next generation of tech is developing. And today, Google acquired AIMatter, which is a startup founded in Belarus. Essentially, this latest acquisition will help Google with its own efforts in this particular area.
According to reports late Wednesday, Google (NASDAQ:$GOOGL) finalized their acquisition of AIMatter, a company that uses a neural network in order to help detect and process images on mobile phones, according to TechCrunch. Additionally, AIMatter makes the Fabby app, which uses AI to recognize various aspects of a selfie in order to apply effects and alterations.
Keep in mind this deal did not appear out of the blue. Reports surrounding the acquisition actually started circulating back in May.
As of right now, the terms of the deal were yet to be announced.
