President Trump held a Halloween event in the Oval Office yesterday, and there were two things that he noticed: 1) the press has beautiful children, and 2) none of those children suffer from weight problems.
On Friday, the president had a Halloween event in the Oval Office, and the guests consisted of reporters’ children. During the event, Trump expressed dismay that the press “produced such beautiful children.” The kids were dressed up in costumes ranging from Batman to Princess Leia.
“I cannot believe the media produced such beautiful children,” the president said. “How the media did this, I don’t know.”
He then went on to ask if the “beautiful, wonderful children” are going to grow up to be like their parents. He seemed to express tepid disapproval of the idea, but told the kids that they should not “answer” because “that could only get me in trouble, that question.”
Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the White House press secretary, then gave the president candy to hand out to the children. Of course, Trump couldn’t do this simple task without adding his own two cents in: he turned to one kid and said: “You have no weight problems – that’s the good news, right?”
Towards the end of the event, Trump said the children could stay, but the parents “maybe not so much.”
The president’s comments come ahead of the White House’s Halloween party on Monday.
