Youtube to Launch YouTube Music Streaming Service on May 22!

YouTube Music

YouTube Music: Many use some sort of music streaming service, but perhaps nothing truly competes against the likes of Spotify and YouTube. That said, a little bird told the masses today that YouTube is launching a brand new streaming service. When? Next week.

YouTube Music | YouTube’s New Music Streaming Service

According to various reports, YouTube – which is owned by Alphabet, Inc. – announced on Thursday that it will be launching a new music streaming service this week. So, do we have details, considering the launch is next week? You bet!

The service will be called YouTube Music, and the launch date is scheduled for May 22. It will have numerous features, including personalized playlists. These playlists will be compiled based on your previous listening history. Further, the service will offer an ad-supported version, as well as a $9.99 per month version.

This is good news for Alphabet, Inc., but not necessarily the remaining players in the paid music streaming industry. It’s thought YouTube Music will replace Google Play Music, while giving companies like Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL), Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN), and Spotify Technology SA a run for their money.

More Announcements

Disclosed on Thursday was that YouTube Red would be getting a facelift. Specifically, YouTube Red will be revamped to include YouTube Music, and then YouTube Premium is set to replace YouTube Red.

Community Reaction

If you’re team Spotify, your company may have to do something to stand out in the next couple months. That said, the Alphabet stock (NASDAQ:GOOGL) didn’t shoot up after word surfaced. In fact, the stock ended the trading day down 0.26%. So, are people happy? The stock drop indicates otherwise.
