Apple stock has been on a constant rise since 2004. In February this year, the company’s shares reached $320.03. The most popular Apple product, the iPhone, is also on a constant rise.

In 2019 alone, Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) made $142 billion from selling over 40 million devices. Many of these items were sold to teenagers. In fact, 83% of American teens use iPhones.

Teenagers Love iPhones

A survey made by Piper Jaffray, in which 6,000 teenagers were questioned, says that 84% of kids at the age of 16.4 expected their next device to be a new iPhone.

It seems like Apple’s customer retention among teenagers is top of the line. This is because the iPhone is still considered a luxury product. Although over 1.5 billion items have been sold since it was first introduced, it is still considered prestigious.

Around 90% of Teens Use at Least One Social Network

American teenagers are beyond tech-savvy. Around 95% of them own a smartphone, 90% regularly use at least one social network, and 71% use more than one network, according to a survey from Pew Research. Some of the most popular ones are YouTube, Instagram, and Snapchat. Facebook and Twitter and ranking lower than before. Just for comparison’s sake, social network penetration in all generations and all across the world is 45%.

Around 87% of social media users of all ages around the world reach the networks from their smartphones. You could say that among teenagers, this number is almost 100%. The younger generation is closely attached to their smartphones and communicate with friends via their favorite social networks. The same survey found that 45% of teens are almost constantly online.

iPhone Apps Make it Too Easy for Teens

The iPhone is made to be simple. Everyone can handle it. This is one of its best features and a key factor as to why people love it.

Every new model that comes out offers more and better-developed apps. The industry of app development is also producing new apps daily. There’s a new social network released almost daily, but not all of them see the popularity that their creators dream of.

Sometimes teens want an iPhone so that they’ll be part of the gang—they want to be popular. With this in mind, parents and teens alike save money for new models. According to iPhone statistics, new models in 2019 cost at least $499, and went as high as $1,499.

Conclusion

It doesn’t take much to see the correlation between everything we said above. It’s clear that Gen Z is the one mostly using social networks, or the youngest ones able to use technology. At the same time, the American youth is simply overwhelmed by how Apple handles its business. They are all in love with iPhones.

What this means is that everyone who wants to do some kind of a business that involves US teens should take these facts into consideration.

The social network industry is a massive business. The three biggest networks, Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram, are worth around $750 billion.

Apple alone is worth $1.3 trillion. It is deeply connected with the social network influence and vice versa. Without social networks, Apple will surely lose a lot of its income and popularity. The two truly go hand in hand—especially in the United States.
