YouTuber Shooting – Suspect Angry Over Filtered Videos

YouTube Shooting

The recent YouTube shooting at the San Bruno, California, headquarters left several people hospitalized, and the shooter dead.

According to recent reports, the suspect was 38-year-old Nasim Najafi Aghdam, a vegan activist and blogger who ran a website about Persian culture and veganism.

Her website included long posts criticizing YouTube because she believed that the company had negatively impacted her viewership.

Aghdam had been upset because the Google (Nasdaq:GOOG) owned company had started filtering her videos, which resulted in her getting fewer views and making less money.

She stated in a January 2017 video that she was filtered on YouTube and that the company was attacking her channel.

“I’m filtered on YouTube, and I’m not the only one. So recently they also attacked my Persian channel Nasime Sabz, and if you go and check my videos you’ll see that my new videos hardly get views, and my old videos that used to get many views, stopped getting views.”

She believed that there was no equal growth on YouTube and that a channel would only get views if the video-sharing company wanted it to succeed.

According to an article in The Guardian, Aghdam’s father, Ismail Aghdam, reported on Monday that his daughter was missing and claims that he warned police that she may be going to the YouTube headquarters.

A total of three people were hospitalized due to their injuries, including a 36-year-old man in critical condition, a 32-year-old woman with serious injuries, and a 27-year-old woman in fair condition.

In an FBI study of 160 active shootings, between 2000 and 2013, it was reported that at least six of the shooters were female.
