Following the launching of the Xbox One X, it seems like Microsoft (NASDAQ:$MSFT) has now discontinued the sale of the original Xbox One in the U.S, according Kotaku UK. UK locations also no longer hold the original Xbox One in stock, listing the product as sold out. In its online store, Microsoft now only sell refurbished models of the original Xbox One consoles at just $199. The Xbox One S and the Xbox One X are both still available as retail versions.

Microsoft’s original Xbox One was first distributed almost four years ago as a way to compete with fellow tech company Sony’s (NYSE:$SNE) PlayStation 4. About $100 more expensive than the PlayStation 4, however, the original Xbox One received mixed reviews from consumers. As a result, Sony took the lead in the gaming console segment. Since then, Microsoft has made efforts to play catch up with Sony and other companies like Nintendo (OTCMKTS:$NTDOY). An example of this is the launch of the Kinect sensor, a Wii-like gaming extension of the Xbox, just six months after releasing the Xbox One to the public. Now, Microsoft has adjusted its strategies and is focusing on improving hardware and developing games.u

The Xbox One S was launched in 2016, which effectively halted the distribution of the Xbox 360. The Xbox One S followed Microsoft’s plan to refocus on hardware. Not only was the gaming console praised for its clean and white design, Microsoft also included support for Blu-ray movie discs as well as streaming services such as Netflix (NASDAQ:$NFLX) and Amazon (NASDAQ:$AMZN) Video.

With the positive feedback of the Xbox One S, Microsoft had recently announced the launch of the Xbox One X, a console designed and aimed for Xbox superfans. Pre-order for the Xbox One X Scorpio Edition opened last Sunday, August 20th. The result was an exciting one for Microsoft. According to the tech giant, the pre-order selling of Xbox One X was one of the fastest company has seen. While Microsoft has yet to release the exact numbers, the newest console had sold out on Amazon.com within 25 minutes according to The Verge.

The Xbox One X standard edition will be available for pre-order around September.
