On Wednesday, July 5, Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:$GOOGL), the parent company of Google told Reuters that Google is forecasted to receive its first wind farm in Norway by September.
Currently under development, the Tellenes wind farm, which is a 50-turbine wind farm of 160-megawatt capacity, is on its way to becoming Norway’s largest wind farm and Google’s biggest in Europe.
In 2016, Google signed a 12-year deal to purchase 100% of the plant’s production. As of right now, Google has four European data centers in Belgium, Finland, the Netherlands and Ireland. The Internet giant has said that the wind power from Tellenes will be used to supply one or several of them.
According to a Google spokesman, “we’ll purchase power as soon as the wind farm becomes fully operational, which we expect will take place in early September 2017.”
