Facebook Platform Instant Games Just Got a Whole Lot More Instant

Instant Games

The Facebook (NASDAQ:FB) platform Instant Games now includes live streaming and will soon support video chat as well.

Video chat will allow users to video chat with one another on Messenger while playing games on Instant Games. The feature will be tested first, before becoming fully integrated next year. Words with Friends will be the first game to incorporate video chat.

Live streaming, which is already enabled, allows gamers to live stream their games on Facebook Live.

By providing users with more video content, Facebook is hoping to increase its user engagement. CEO Mark Zuckerberg says that “connecting with friends and family and having those meaningful interactions is more important than just consuming content.” As such, Facebook wants to focus more on quality than quantity to attract people to Instant Games.

Zuckerberg explains the turn to videos, saying that they are more “engaging than a photo and a better representation of that than writing it out in text.”
